Thanks, I tried. (path is already in /etc/defaults/rc.conf). No go.
Netscape started after yesterday's build world, but that was it.
Whatever I did next froze it. Libraries, I'm sure, as the problem
seems fixed after rebuilding XFree86, again :-)
