 Like I said, my hack doesn't contradict what hier(7) sais. It's 100%
compatible ;-) !

 Seriously now, I don't see why you hate so much the ideea of making some
(most ?) people's life easier without breaking what's already been set...

 If it would really break things up then I would agree with you (indeed,
the inital proposed chage, symlinking /var/tmp, is just a dirty
workaround).
