Hello Frameworkers:
A quick note to let you know that BAMPFA's annual Alternative Visions series of experimental cinema is online: https://bampfa.org/alternative-visions-2020 Simon Wilches Castro's wonderful upcoming illustrated lecture (with films and clips) on the history of Latin American animation focuses on varied aesthetic and stylistic approaches that, taken together, can be seen as a response to the trauma of Latin America's history. Other programs feature TVTV's coverage on the 1972 political conventions, Yugoslav experimental films from the 1960s-1990s, and Sky Hopinka's newest feature. Each program includes a live online conversation. We're also presenting three powerful programs from Los Angeles Filmforum's touring *Ism Ism Ism: Experimental Cinema in Latin America*. The programs we will host are listed here: https://bampfa.org/ism-ism-ism-experimental-cinema-latin-america Each of these programs will include a live online conversation, hosted by Jesse Lerner; the first is Wednesday Sept. 9. And, as they are confirmed, other selections from the series, presented at other venues, will be posted here: https://www.lafilmforum.org/schedule/ The tour only runs through the end of this year so these offerings at various venues are the last chance to see works from this excellent tour. —Kathy Geritz --
