Thanks Kate!

This is a great idea!

I just added a category called <Low-tech, Low-Fi, and DIY>. And it would be
great if folks could add some examples to that…. I’m realizing that a lot of my
video production students rely heavily on equipment and software from the
university… but our university not only cancelled classes, but also put the
entire campus on lockdown so no one can get inside for the next 2 weeks - not
even to pick stuff up from our offices.

My students have projects due in a few weeks, and many of them had been
planning on using our green screen studio, high end cameras, and software that
I’m sure most of them do not have on their personal computers… some of them may
not even have their own computers.

I’d like to encourage and empower my students to explore the realm of low-fi,
low-tech, and DIY moving-image making…. Whether that be with cell-phones or web
cams… or other means. These are not film students so they don’t usually work
on celluloid… they are video production students (and students in advanced
practices in video, performance, and electronics)….

So yeah… given that they won’t be able to access any equipment, studios,
software, editing suites, or other facilities from the university for the next
three weeks… I think this is a great chance to show them some DIY and low-fi
works for inspiration.

I’m a bit tired, foggy-headed, and drawing a bit of a blank right now, but if
there are folks out there with good examples of really interesting works made
with easily accessible tools and materials, it would be great to see some more
works populate that playlist! To show our students that they don’t need fancy
gear to make good work!

Once again, thanks so much Kate! I disabled all the passwords on all of my
own Vimeo preview videos and put a few into the lists where they seemed
appropriate.

Stay safe everyone! Wash your hands, phones, and keyboards… and don’t touch
your face. ;-)

Have a lovely weekend,

Kindly,

Amanda
