Hi Ben,

I’ve never tried either chemicals you are considering, but would be
interested to hear how it goes if you choose one of them. maybe you’ve
already considered this, but another option is Kodak’s reversal kit, which
can be ordered in full, or a la carte (for example, you could order
clearing bath only if you wanted to). In my experience, one order of 1st
dev and Fix is all that’s needed for hi-con reversal since R9 bleach is
relatively cheap and easy to mix from scratch as needed. I’ve done tests
and can’t tell the difference (in 7363 hi-con) between substituting Kodak’s
1st Dev (D94) and and the traditional 2nd Dev. But if students are
shooting Tri-X etc then the Kodaks 2nd developer might make sense. It’s not
an eco kit but it does come in liquid parts A&B, its shelf life is good,
and you can get their 30% edu discount (if you’ve got access to an edu
account and place the order by phone/email)!

just one idea...
