Hi Frameworkers!

The Florida Experimental Film/Video Festival is please to announce our call
for entries! (FINALLY!) As many of you know, FLEX is back in action, now
in Tampa, FL. FLEX, as always, alternates between a competitive festival
with an open call for entries and a curated event with a slate of invited
filmmaker's presenting a program of their work and a program of work that
influenced them. This year's festival is a "competition" festival (and we
are still working out our modest prizes). Our jurors this year are Nazli
Dinçel, Almudena Escobar López, and Dana Plays. More information on our
amazing jurors here:

      https://www.flexfest.org/flex-2019-jurors/

Our call for entries is open for the next 6 weeks, deadline for submissions
is 11/20/18. As in the past, there are no entries fees for filmmakers
living outside the United States and for festival alumni. For all others,
the modest submission fee is $15 ($10 each if you're submitting more than 3
works). FLEX is completely autonomous and volunteer run festival with
sponsorship support from Film Tampa Bay <http://filmtampabay.com/> and The
University of Tampa's College of Arts and Letters
<http://www.ut.edu/artsandletters/>.

FLEX doesn’t want to know in advance what experimental means. We’re
interested in work that challenges generic designations (including the
traditional “avant-garde” or “underground” ones). Work may also draw on
documentary, narrative, animation, or any other tradition – or no tradition
at all. So, what is experimental? We’re hoping to be surprised by your
answer. For those of you unfamaliar with FLEX and it's history, dating back
to 2004, check our archives tab on the FLEX homepage:

The festival takes place in Tampa, FL February 7th - 10th, 2019. All
filmmakers submitting work to the festival will be notified of their
acceptance (or non-acceptance) by December 20, 2019. Here's the call for
entries link:

experimentally yours,
Warren (Tampa, FL)

p.s. A very special thanks to *Roger Beebe *and *Alisson Bittiker* for
their help in getting FLEX set up in it's new home.... Don't worry
Gainesville, we'll be coming through town with a touring program (and maybe
some regular programming) soon enough!
