while Canonical is working on rebasing Ubunto on Foresight,
there is another change that will be welcomed by many:

Foresight decided to drop Gnome as its maindesktop, and will instead
feature Sugar from sugarlabs.org. the interface is well known for its
debut on the OLPC laptop, used by more than 500000 children around the
world.

since children are the most demanding customers, they are a good gauge
on what makes an easy to use desktop.

ken agreed that the sugar interface is intuitive, and even clumsy people
can use it well. it may feel akward at first, but as ken says: "i know
this seems weird for experienced users, but experts say it is easier for
kids to use"

and for adults too. myself, i have been using a sugar based olpc as my
main workstation for some time now, and i am looking forward to be able
to run foresight on this machine.

while sugar is being integrated into foresight, you can get a prerelease
from group-sugar-glucose=embee.rpath....@fl:2-devel

there are no activities yet (just download them yourself from
activities.sugarlabs.org) and some activities will not run because of
missing dependencies.

greetings, martin.
