Lukas, you have been proven correct on both counts. The client wanted an IP and the driver did not understand the request. After changing the driver, the install continued and I almost kissed the monitor.
If it helps other people from pulling out their hair, I can do more testing before documenting it and sending it to you. Thank you for a great tool.
