I dismiss an opinion based on an opinion. Proof of the fact: > I consider my finances and employment my own business, and will never ^^^^^^^^^^ > disclose it on *public* mailing list. I do not remember the references, but I have seen at least one, possibly several, serious studies showing that secrecy about salaries caused an overall decrease in salaries and worsening in workplace interaction. It is a management technique of the "divide and conquer" type to avoid workers from organizing to get decent salaries. The only people who should be attached to salary secrecy are the people who at some level realize that they are payed way more than they deserve (finance, marketing, etc.). For people whose work has actual value, like you, this attachment is only the result of propaganda and detrimental to yourself. Regards, -- Nicolas George
