It'd probably make sense to also copy over the option for evaluating the expression per-frame or on init. Given that this is usually going to run much faster than the software overlay filter, the slight overhead from the expression could be much more severe.

Looks good otherwise, and for what I care, the per-frame/init option can also be added in a later patch.
