Well, it would work, if the security and release teams would agree with it.
But I'd *love* to see ffmpeg replace libav and to get my mplayer back, which is currently on hold.
Once FFmpeg is back in the archive, it'll be easy to reintroduce MPlayer. It has been removed from sid, since it fails to build against Libav, but it builds fine against FFmpeg.
