Hi, it's there just for it. Evolution used to set it under the hood, thus users did not notice the font definition is too small. In time of adding the option the auto-minimum-font-size was removed and it's all up to the user. Jonathan, set it to 14 pixel or so (it's currently 0 in your screenshot of the Preferences). I see this a lot with the Gmail messages composed in their web interface. Changing font to Normal there (from another font) uses one level smaller font. It's not visible in their web interface, because (I believe) they have the size overwritten in the CSS. On the other hand messages from services like GitLab or GitHub use smaller font size for their footer, where's shown common information, which is not that important like the message content itself; they look properly in the Evolution. The option influences both/all messages.
