Thanks

Networking 2 UNIX variants : Mac OS X and Linux (S.u.S.E. 9.0)
This is my situation:
I have a Wintel Laptop running S.u.S.E. Linux 9.0 and a Apple Macintosh G-4 running Mac OS X (Panther)
BOTh are running, therefore, UNIX variants.
BOTh have EitherNet ports. (Big Phone Jacks)
I want to connect them EitherNet PEER-to-PEER.
How do I do it. In specific:
1.) How do I make them aware of each other?
2.) How do I assign DNS numbers and names - ( #.#.#.# : subgenius.com )
3.) How do I find a GUI way to co-ordinate their Hellos and Good-Byes?
4.) Can they Be PEER to PEER?
5.) Is file transfer a 2 way street?
Thank you very much for WHATEVER help and guidance you can give me. The folks I talked to the last time I was in your Mac Store were somewhat in the dark.
