I am using dual monitor. As far as the desktop I think the one your
comfortable with KDE,Gnome,WM or Enlightenment. I use Gnome. I didn't like
xinermama although you might.. You can make different XF86Config-4 files and
try different setups. I don't know if mine is Dualview. It looks like I
have two desktops. I have the Nvidia FX5200 and I didn't know it won't do GL
on both. And come to think of it the GLX screensavers come on both and
what's really wierd they have different' screen savers on each monitor. Well
I just tried glxgears on both monitors and both work. You don't really have
to switch them you just move the mouse over to the edge and your in the other
monitor just move the mouse back and you back.
I haven't got my xawtv up and running. I think it has something to direct
draw. I did have knoppix up in the frame buffered x and xawtv was on both so
I think that was Dualview. I could send you my XF86Config-4 if you need it.
I did run two window mangager on each monitor but it's probally best to keep
the same one on both. My suggestion is to have the same resolution on both
like 1280x1024. I think I posted a while back a website which people had
multiple monitors. I can post it again. I think you will like two monitors
however I think you will try three or four just to say you did it. What is
really cool is running another x i.e. startx -- :1 and startx -- :2 and
switching desktops. This is nice to show off the power of *nix. Well for "
Why can't I just be simple? :-)" that wouldn't be fun. :-)

The only problem I haven't resolved yet is when I switch from X to a shell
(ctrl + alt + F1). Althought I barely can see the shell on my main monitor
it's perfect on the second. It would be nice if I could have one shell on
each. Oh, well. If figure that one out please post it. I've been doing
google searches and read alot and I think frame buffer might work but I
haven't tried it yet..

Let us know about your experience.
