it's an illustration of what to do... it could become an all-encompassing tool
to do all clones and updates and so on... it's more meant to be readable and
easy to understand so you can do it by hand too or run the script or "figure it
out"...

http is better thanks to firewall reasons. often firewalls deny ALL outbound
traffic EXCEPT http (via explicit or transparent proxy).
