you know you can just configure both screens side by side, and if you close the
laptop lid.. the internal screen will be deconfigured. lift lid and it'll be
enabled again. plug/unplug of external monitor will enable/disable it (once
configured and as long as e can get randr plug/unplug events - not all drivers
and hw provide these).
