But they do NOT disappear. those are not device icons. they are links - that's all. device icons appear as you insert a cd, dvd into a drive, plug in a thumbdrive or usb hdd, or insert an sd card into a reader etc. they work here on arch - have worked a charm ever since i can remember. i don't know what's wrong with your system there, but it works for me. > Mount volumes on insert was also pre-set to checked at installation.
