Sounds interesting. I'll try it. But finally I think I was able to make my use-case work with E19. I set the "connect" parameters to "0" of nearly every output in e_randr.cfg. I only left it at "1" for the outputs eDP1 and VIRTUAL1. I've also edited the saved geometry data. Now when an external monitor is connected, I have to press a hotkey, and a script sets up everything nicely, and my windows stay on their screen as they should.
