e dont seet fonts for your apps , is set is for e menu,borders,tasks and so
for apps your fonts are set for example in gtk2: ~/.gtkrc-2.0
gtk-font-name="Sans 10"
gtk-xft-antialias=1

gtk-xft-hinting=1

gtk-xft-hintstyle="hintfull"
for gtk3 settings are in ~/.config/gtk-3-0/settings.ini
and qt are  ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
and how look and what "Sans" is is set in ~/.fonts.conf or ~/
.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf
