Thanks, that's a reasonable workaround, but I can I make a feature request?

I'd be happy with global setting that applies to all windows and makes it so
that when I click on the 'close this window' cross, I get a confirmation
dialog.
Yes, it is windwos-esque, but I have a stupid touchpad on my laptop and
along with a very high resolution, I've found I sometimes get unwanted clicks 
that close windows I really wouldn't want to close.

Would you be ok with adding a 'confirm closing' dialog as an option (off by
default of course)?
