Ok, I might stop at this point. I'm not using the PPA's because the current
PPA's
don't work for Ubuntu 13.04, at least not on either of my machines. Both
enlightenment
and terminology report unknown symbols, which is an error I've see on the
forums for
older versions of Enlightenment.

I've just re-added the PPA and installing EConnman is going to pull in lots of
stuff that's
going to break my now working installation(s). (which are built mostly
successfully from source)

I've also tried the SVN PPA and had the same problems.

I suspect there is some sort of conflict between the PPA's and the version of
E17 now available
from Ubuntu .. the latter I unfortunately installed first. I think the solution
may be to remove
all associated packages, then install the PPA, then re-install, but I don't
have a complete list,
and I've tried to guess but failed.
