I
also have ati card, but I've never had any problem installing
enlightenment. I've just reinstalled the latest enlightenment version
from arch repository because I bought a new ssd hddrive and the
installation went without a hitch. Now it boots up in 7 seconds.

Can you share the content of your .xsession-errors ?
