After you start the VM and give it focus, take the focus out and turn on
your numlock. Fixes the problem every time for me. It works with cap locks
too, Burr that is a bit more annoying.

You should notice the keys that go missing are ones bound to short cuts.
I've had this issue for a while, but it is way past my abilities to
diagnose. Particularly when I have such an easy work around.
