indeed that is my question too. there was a time long ago in the early age of
crt's where i think dpms may have made screens misbhave. they didn't understand
it so when the video signal was cut, they would display some garbage instead of
turning off, but these screens are long gone and buried, not to mention even
rare back then. i don't see the point either in NOT having dpms enabled (unless
u want the screen on ANd displaying something all the time - eg your tv -
watching movies - no timeout).
