reading this, i'm starting to believe it may be a lenovo-specific thing... i have a t410 (running gentoo on a 3.2 kernel) and i'm having the same problem: acpi_listen correctly catches lid_close/lid_open, but e doesn't.
could it be a bug in the thinkpad-acpi kernel module? if so, what would i have to do to confirm this?
