this smells like a deeper problem on your system and not in e. hostname is a
file in /etc owned by root. e has nothing to go change it. maybe connman does -
but even if hostname changed everything should keep working as DISPLAY should
be set to :0 or :0.0 which contains no hostname. it means connect to the LOCAL
x server via unix socket (the 0th server). if your DISPLAY env var is set to
anything other than this you are hurting yourself. e doesnt set this - its the
login manager/x session starter that does. eg for you - kdm.
