likely python-elementary package is wrong or you have another
installation that is.

see if you have $PYTHONPATH set, if so search for elementary in it,
delete files.

see if you have the files in your python-elementary installation:
   $ ls /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/elementary/
   c_elementary.la
   c_elementary.so
   cursors.py
   cursors.pyc
   cursors.pyo
   __init__.py
   __init__.pyc
   __init__.pyo
