Thanks Karl,
Under Settings/Menus/Menu Settings/System/ I have chosen Kde (4,4-
applications). Choosing Kde (Information) does not change anything as far as
icons are concerned.
However, I can now report this strange behaviour:
Manually changing the icon for say kmail on the ibar, is not saved and still
no kmail icon is shown.
Having done this I discovered that the kmail icon on the menu is now visible!
Removing kmail from iBar and adding it again makes the icon visible on the
iBar this time.
No idea why all this works in this fashion, just mentioning it in case it
helps the devs.
