Yeah, the new thing is that there is a default icon which is shown in  
either of the app-icon and e-icon modes when there is no app/e icon.

It seems to me to be consistent to show an icon if the preferred display  
policy is an icon-type one. However, as you say, this also means that  
windows are never snapshotted in icon modes. Whether the fallback should  
be a snapshot or the default icon is a matter of taste, I believe :)

I guess the text in the configuration dialog should be changed to not  
indicate that snapshotting may be used as fallback.
