Kim,

I reinstalled my openSuSE drive and confirmed sound is OK in e17 there
is
well, but is dead in e16 (same lockup issue). Also, in e17 on suse, I cannot
unload the ecomorph module. When I tell it to unload, X crashes and I'm
returned to the login. How do I edit the .cfg files for e17? "They ain't
ASCII" :-)

I'll probably just start over by removing ~/.e17, but I would still
like to
know how to hand edit the config files.

Also, we have got to get the e17 screenlock fixed so it will recognize
my
password. It works fine on my Archlinux setup, but not on opensuse. When the
screensaver screenlock activates, I get the normal background with the
password box in the middle as expected on both. But, when I type my password
into the text-box on opensuse, the ********* hidden text indicators show the
proper number of characters entered, but for whatever the reason (pam or
otherwise) I get "Invalid" password on opensuse and either have to drop to
tty1 or ssh into the box and kill X. (I have looked at detail for a separate
running lock process to kill just it, but with e17 there isn't one) I'll run
this past the opensuse folks and see if they can't offer a solution.

That's why I would love to get the copy of e17 I built running so I
could see
if it is just a build error for the rpm packages. I have checked everything I
can think of that would prevent me from starting
/usr/local/e17/bin/enlightenment_start (or the local copy of e16) for that
matter, but I have a environment variable problem that is revealing my
ineptitude in the X start area. PATH is correct[1], but I can't get e16 or e17
to accept a DISPLAY variable. The error is:

Enlightenment cannot connect to the display nominated by
your shell's DISPLAY environment variable. You may set this
variable to indicate which display name Enlightenment is to
connect to. It may be that you do not have an Xserver already
running to serve that Display connection, or that you do not
have permission to connect to that display. Please make sure
all is correct before trying again. Run an Xserver by running
xdm or startx first, or contact your local system
administrator, or Xserver vendor, or read the X, xdm and
startx manual pages before proceeding.

I've read the man pages and set DISPLAY=':0' and ':0.0' and then
exported
DISPLAY, but I still get the same error.

Any idea what I'm screwing up here? Thanks again for your help :-)
