It would appear that on Feb 20, Joe(theWordy)Philbrook did say: > But this along with the fact that for SOME reason e17 always opens > positions that .xinitrc initialized konsole running alpine about 2 & 1/2 > inches diagonally lower and to the right of it's 'remembered' position, > serves to show that I, obviously, do NOT understand how to use the > remember function properly...
Now I'm even more confused, because suddenly this alpine window is being positioned accurately... There are only two things I've done differently. And the first one was more than one boot ago. But recently I was reading the output of Konsole --help and decided that it couldn't hurt to add this bit of nonsense to the initialization line in .xinitrc '--name F2alpine' and try to "remember using" by window name and class instead of title... But I don't think this was it because I've rebooted a couple of times before it started landing in the right spot... The only other thing I did different is the last time I repositioned it and then re-applied the remember settings I positioned it via a new keyboard shortcut instead of dragging it by the top window boarder... It doesn't make sense to me that that should make a difference, BUT if it had been that "remember" didn't recognize the durned window it would have been dumped on the first desktop instead of the one I told it to remember... Right????? > Is there a good gently worded how-to that covers what each of the > advanced remember settings are actually for, and 'when to use them'????? Now I'm even more sure that I need a good tutorial/how-to.
