thank you both very much.  i was able to add Logout and Shutdown entries
to my Favorite menu, for example

logout.desktop:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Type=Application
Name=Logout
Comment=Logout your user
Exec=enlightenment_remote -logout
StartupNotify=false
Icon=path_to_e_logout_icon
Terminal=false

the only remaining problem is that i don't know where e logout icon is
located and thus cannot write a proper path for it.  i could use gnome
logout.png, but would prefer the e one that is shown in my main
menu/system submenu.

/usr/share/enlightenment/data/icons directory has only these:

audio_player2.png  image_viewer.png  text_editor.png   web_browser.png
audio_player.png   mail_client.png   video_player.png  xterm.png
