Not the default theme, but "new.edj" from raster's website (/files/new.edj). But I really can't see how this would impact things... it should fallback to default.edj for missing parts. As for the transition, yes, I see the fade, no resize... and the gadgets I have at the bottom don't go to the top layer... they stay below.
