Unless they are of different architectures  you can just copy the compiled
directories over and do a make install, however that is not the easiest way.

The easiest way would be to check the ubuntu forums for E17 install
instructions, or ... you can add edevelop's ubuntu repository to your apt
sources list.  I know there is instructions on both.
