when u restart x (ctrl+alt+backspace) X itself terminates. this is a built-in
to the xserver and e has no choice - so you end up back at your login screen.
you still need a username and password though then to get in so you are safe -
you simply lost your x login session. you can turn this behavior off in your x
config - but this is out of e's control - in fact most things are. :)
