Are you in root when you type make install?
Making install in api/bin/sh ../mkinstalldirs /sw/lib/bin/sh ../libtool --mode=install /usr/bin/install -c libepplet.la /sw/lib/libepplet.la/usr/bin/install -c .libs/libepplet.lai /sw/lib/libepplet.lainstall: /sw/lib/libepplet.la: Permission deniedmake[2]: *** [install-libLTLIBRARIES] Error 71it looks like I'll never be able to finish this.

Of course it doesn't allow me to change the directory permission with chmod :-(cheers,gp
