uhm, given that (almost?) all screensavers in xscreensaver are
actually standalone programs which run with the option -root (or
similar),  if e's screensaver could run an application instead of
blanking the screen, anyone could make it run his preferred
screensaver without the need to run the xscreensaver daemon.

am I wrong?
