If there is a segmentation fault with the X server, then it is an X bug. While the window manager has some special responsibilities, it is still just an X client and the X server should properly error check the requests and handle errors appropriately. > - In case it is a bug of Xorg 6.9.0, why does it become "effective" > only with DR16? Apparently DR16 triggers the case of the bug. Are you using the compositing manager built in to DR16?
