Unless you add something like this before running configure script :

data/config/autodetect.sh|" Makefile.in
If there was a configure option to (enable or) disable the autodetect.sh
script, it could also be a (cleaner) solution.
how about we let users run the script by hand once they are done
installing?
making ugly script hacks required for packagers is not what anyone
should do.
