whats your desktop bg? everyting defaults? have u changed e17 rendering
engines? if the bg is expensive to draw (complex, lots of downscaling or
upscaling, many many many layers) then updates of the shadows will be slow.l a
faster machine will help :) (or reduce blur of shadow or turn of dropsahdows)

just so you know - yes it will and does lag. the slwoer the machine the more
noticable (as there is time spent doing the redraw and then you notice it) the
less it has to redraw and the faster the machine, the less you notice :) on a
fast machine you can basically not see it at all.
