Use kanji terminal "kterm". :)
I tried making Eterm work in the past with this code:
#!/bin/bash
LANGUAGE=en_US LC_TYPE=ja_JP.UTF-8 GTK_IM_MODULE=iiim ${1+"$@"} &
to realize that it doesn't support utf-8. :(
