That appears to be the trouble. Your command, and its result, are the
exact same as mine. Except that I don't get the desktop flip.

Sorry about the novice question, but how might I go about determining
which program has stolen this binding? I know that when an Eterm is
active, the Eterm menubar will flash when I press Alt-1.
