Precisely what I'd hoped. I figure I'll still have to test each application accordingly, but from what I know of my Slackware distro, everything should be in place.

Someone earlier replied to me and not the list with that link. Looks way more functional than the krfb I've been using, and the part at http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/#faq-blockdpy looks especially interesting as an extra console security measure, deterring those who are curious, but not malicious.
http://get-e.org/ has alot of documentation.
All the E17 info I could want to get started seems to be right there. And, though I haven't looked at it yet, I'm under the impression that eDox covers E16 pretty well.
Turns out the machine I was going to use for testing won't post, so I may have to put off this switch for a while anyway. Maybe I can convince my wife to let me put Slackware on a second drive in her computer :)
