Someone posted a solution to this which worked for me. I added the
following to my .xinitrc script:
export KDEWM=enlightenment
exec /opt/kde3/bin/startkde
Would something similar to this also work for using Enlightenment in
Gnome?

gnome-panel &
exec enlightenment
