no imlib2 from cvs doesn't have the problem with imlib2.pc
E17 compiles fine under LE2005. Make sure you have:
libdirect + libdirect-devel
libltdl3 + libltdl3-devel
libMesaglut3 + libMesaglut3-devel
libMesaGLU1 + libMesaGLU1-devel
and automake >= 1.7
