Hello Matias,
First of all I would suggest that you upgrade your
system. RH 9 is 3 version below the recent Fedora Core 3. People have
stop producing patches for RH 9 and it won't be long until it's
completely NOT supported.
The way you built those rpms is not totally correct. If you want to
build it out of a tarball as you do, it would be best resorting to
mezzanine by KainX.

and performing an mzbuild. You might want to take a look at
http://sps.nus.edu.sg/~didierbe
There are some specs, rpms and source rpms for you to play with. ;-)
FC1 is simlar to RH 9 so you can have a go at the FC1 rpms. But
seriously I would urge you to upgrade.
