My guess is that you have a non- en_XX locale and do not have iconv.
If so, e_gen_menu will run for a *very* long time.
Should be fixed in CVS now.
If this is not the problem, please try running the script from a
terminal, and see if there are any messages, or maybe ps can show where
it hangs.
