In Fedora core 2,

rpm -qlp freetype-2.1.7-4.i386.rpm gives

/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6
/usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6.3.5
/usr/lib/libttf.so.2
/usr/lib/libttf.so.2.3.0
/usr/share/doc/freetype-2.1.7
[snip]


meaning that the FC2 freetype packages provides libttf.so.2
