I've searched the mialing list archive and didn't find anything related to the following question. FYI - I'm running a pretty recent version of Mandrake if it matters. . .

When trying to install Imlib 1.9.14 (and of course after installing all required packages: libTiff, libPNG, Zlib, libJPEG) with defaults (no special flags set, etc) I get an error telling me the "gif_lib.h" header cannot be found. This does not surprise me as when I search my system, this file is no where to be found. But my question then is was this file supposed to be installed by one of the required packages that Imlib is dependant on? Is it assumed that this package is already on my system?

I can install giflib and get the file, but if this is necessary why isn't it listed as a required package? Another concern is about the whole Unisys licensing issue which I don't know much about, but is a pain in the ass that I don't want to have to deal with.

Thanks in advance for any information or help anyone can offer,

Alex
