Hey guys, I recently resurrected a Toshiba Satellite 315CDS with Mandrake 9.1. I have given it a total of 96MB of RAM (EDO 66Mhz) and a 12GB hard drive. It is running some crappy mobile no-name video chip that does 1024x768 with 16-bit color (65,000 colors).
I can run KDE 3.1 though it runs like a legless horse. Currently I'm running BlackBox because it's so incredibly light and it looks nice. I figured that E 0.16.5 would be good because it too has a small memory footprint. But I'm worried about the video. Do you think it's adequate for 0.16.5? Perhaps an earlier version would work better? I haven't tried it yet because compiling it on a Pentium 200Mhz is gonna suck. I don't want to waste the CPU cycles if it won't pan out. What do you guys think?
